Singapore Laksa

I know I've been blogging about food of late. What can you do when it's so cold outside but eat? Whatmore, there are so many benefits of eating especially during winter:

You eat to survive

It can be a pass-time

You exercise your jaws while eating, and exercise almost the whole body if you're cooking your own.

You enjoy the smell and taste of the food

You have some quality time with someone when eating (unless you eat alone of course)

You eat to keep warm

See, so many benefits. You can't blame me for being a foodie. So, being a cold Sunday, I was just too lazy to leave my cosy nest to pass time. The solution? I decided to try this "just add" Singapore Laksa.

*15 mins later* Tada.........

Frankly, it tastes average. I think I put too much coconut milk in it until the soup became too thick and slimy. Another note, it is sour! Is Singapore Laksa suppose to be sour? *Doreen scratching head*

I'm no Singapore food expert, so I have no idea if the Laksa is supposed to be sour, but your presentation sure looks great!

I'm not too sure if it's supposed to be too sour, but I think a tinge of it at least, 'cos of the lime. I wouldn't mind trying some Kan Tong pre-made laksa too, that looks scrumptious! I'll forgo the coconut milk though...

I haven't taste Sg Laksa b4...

Is it the same variant as Asam Laksa and Lemak Laksa? Or is it the same as Curry Mee cos southerners call Curry Mee as Laksa for some odd reasons which i dunno why...

Okok...i can comment on this. Here comes a singaporean who loves laksa since she was a kid. :p It is NOT sour!!! There's no lime in it either. Probably there's some lemon grass but still it should not taste sour. I've tried KanTong(sweet and sour sauce)in Australia before and it sux!!!...i'm serious! Don't try kantong!!! Try Asian Home Gourmet. It's not fantastic but i'm sure it taste better than kantong, plus it's made in Singapore. Next time come singapore la. I'll bring you out to eat authentic singapore laksa heehehehehehe

It doesnt look like S'pore Laksa and also not sour at all. Sour = Asam laksa? May be the factory labeled wrongly...hahaha.
Anyway, I dont really like singapore laksa, I still prefer Sarawak laksa.

l b: Thanks. The presentation is surely deceiving...hehehe

may: I've never tried Singapore Laksa before too. I just follow the instruction blindly and then ended up too much coconut milk.

kyh: Dunno leh, I've also never tried authentic Singapore laksa before....I would expect it to be like curry mee

carcar: So it's not suppose to be sour then. Emm....I must try the authentic Singapore laksa one day. I do like Malaysian laksa, especially Sarawak laksa..YUM!

liwan: Cheh~~~the Kantong Singapore Laksa misleading one. Stated Singapore laksa and tastes like dunno what laksa. SUX! I better go try the Asian Home Gourmet. Ya, next if you and I happened to be in Singapore the same time, we go Singapore laksa date! hahahah

Alicia: According to carcar and liwan, Singapore laksa is not suppose to be sour wor. Ya, Sarawak laksa is soooo yum leh...aiyo me drooling liao....I haven't tried your cheesecake yet, it's quite complicated neh~~~me scared~~~ hehehe

eve: Yeah, the taupok soaked in the curry and when you chew it in your mouth, the curry gushes out....did I made you drool even more? hehehe

donald: Hey bro. Haha...I think the factory got the printing wrong and couldn't be bother to change. Hahahaha.

chen: Don't try Kantong. It sure put you off.

irene: katong laksa? Wah~~another variant of laksa? I want to try!

Irene: Yup i know katong laksa. I only eat there once though LOL. Hmmm maybe i should try it out again one day. I haven't tried the one at alexandra village. You know of any other good laksa stores around sg?

Doreen: Katong is a place in sg and someone started selling laksa there years ago and called the store Katong Laksa. But it's still singapore laksa la LOL

mistipurple said...

singapore laksa thick soup and optional cockles. some version thinner stock, eg, 'original' katong laksa. but cleaner taste.

and yes, it's actually very nice. sinful and nice. oh, before i forget, not sour.
