Cape Reinga & Ninety Mile Beach

A 3-hour drive from Bay of Islands.

We made a brief stop at Ninety Mile Beach.  If you must know, it is not 90 miles long but actually 55 miles.  How the name came upon is because of a cute mistake made in the old days, all can be found at Wiki, something to do with horse travelling.

We arrived at the beautiful Cape Reinga around midday.  It is the northwesternmost tip of New Zealand, where you can spot the separation of Tasman Sea from the Pacific Ocean, marked by the two different shades of blue and the tidal race as the two seas clash.  Quite phenomenal really.
