Family road trip - Paeroa & Waihi

While my in-laws were here, we headed east for a weekend getaway, stopping in Paeroa and Waihi en route to Coromandel Peninsula.

It was a quick photo stop at Paeroa.  Nothing much to see in this small town apart from the big L&P bottle.  Paeroa is where the L&P (Lemon & Paeroa) soft drink is originated.  It is a rather popular soft drink here in NZ although I thought it smells a bit like dish washing liquid may be due to the lemon :P

 Punky punk!

Then another 30 minute drive, we arrived into Waihi, notable for its history of over 100 years of gold and silver mining, and still in operation at present day.

Awww.....cheeky little miner

The beautiful Coromandel will be up next :)
